Valogix Taps Moms to Expand Workforce
November 5, 2007 - Saratoga Springs, NY - Valogix LLC is paving the way for working parents to achieve greater work-life balance, creating a lower-stressed, more committed staff. Recently, Stacy Roderman accepted a permanent, part-time position as the second stay-at-home professional mom in its employ. Stacy is working in the technical department as a software engineer, helping with all aspects of product development. "We are excited to have Stacy on board to contribute to all aspects of our product development. She will be a great addition to our team dedicated to creating world-class software products that enable our customers to work more productively and efficiently," stated Mark Yablonski, Chief Technology Officer at Valogix.
The first employee to work a reduced schedule to accommodate work-life balance was Dawn DiLorenzo, hired in April 2005, then four months pregnant. After an extended maternity leave and returning part-time schedule, it became clear that a change was necessary. After negotiating a part-time, home-based position in the marketing department, both parties experienced increased productivity and a greater level of satisfaction.
"It can be difficult to determine which positions are suitable to be home-based, but once you have an employee that you want to keep, you make adjustments," noted Tom Glacken, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing. "Keeping Dawn on staff in a marketing position benefited both the company and Dawn personally."
Working mothers are not the only employees to benefit from the Work-Life Balance program at Valogix, still in its infancy.
